Thought

She noticed the boy and his niece the day they arrived. As they appeared in the field, Lexi watched from the trees. She smiled. She had read the prophecies. She knew he and the Princess were due to get married in a few short years. She pushed her wings up and soared. She landed on the edge of the turret on her castle.
Lexi stared out over the land. What could I do, she thought, that could get me the powers of the couple? One's prophecy had said that they were the most powerful Immortals there were. I could impersonate the Princess, she thought. I could steal the boy's Amulet while he sleeps. I could resurrect One. She could live again.
Her yellow eyes widened, and the sun shined on her pink hair. She realized that One had not been lost.
The Queen could rule again.
