loving and letting goA Poem by cechxtrying to forget what life with them was likeWhen you
love someone, you let them go. But nobody
talks about the things ruined by you loosening your grasp. Your bed,
and the pillows they laid on, their scent lingers the satin sheets until you
finally get the courage to wash them. Your walk
home is never the same and upon passing the bridge they loved you let out a
deep sigh hoping tears don’t follow. Your routine
is off, for the first time in months, with many hours vacant. You cant think of
anything else to replace it with so you lay in bed filling your empty days
wondering why you could hold on a little tighter, love a little longer. You constantly
judge yourself, staring at a skeleton once so full of love, wondering where you
went wrong. You still
wear their sweater, it reminds you of the days when the sky filled itself with
clouds and you felt purpose in every waking moment. You hold it You cherish
it, for as long as you can, because if they’re gone at least you have this piece
of fabric to imitate a small fraction of what it was like to be held in their
arms. © 2021 cechx |
