Night of rainA Poem by Cecein the philippines when it not rainy season it rains only at night on roofs made of tin and reeds
I lay here listening to the rain fall Rain drops rolls off the roof Onto a metal pan making such sounds That Ringo Star would envy Hear the flow of the water on the ground For it is heavy now that the ground may gone In the morning a boat I may need to carry me away But for now I pray the water don’t float my bed away Oh the rhythm of the rain To give such poetic sounds To my words of songs Romantic sounds of song My mind wanders that maybe in the morning A battleship is moored at my front door Oh how nice to meet a sailor at my bedroom window I would give such a greeting for his delight In the morning I see evidence Of the rain the night before In neat lines of small holes in the dirt Where the rain fell from the roof Where small children are busy Covering the small holes Where now is smooth What once was smooth © 2008 CeceReviews
