You’re Going To Die AnywaysA Poem by Eric WeickYou’re going to die anyways, so why not put up a fight? Against demons and voices the beckon you, to the lonesome corners of your bed at night. You’re going to die anyways, so is it of any worth to continue to the right? Tis hard work, with callused hands, and years a many, to look into ones own heart, and blind ones own eyes, to a point of perfect sight. You’re going to die anyways, is it not a run, or more of a chase? Maybe one is to God, good people and true treasure, and the other from claws and lion fangs, day by day, that we must face. You’re going to die anyways, Rome doth quote it the best. Live for today, die for the marrow, but then none of this is really a test. A test, of blood, of tears, of years, of fangs. Of hours, of sorrow, of joy lost and of aces and pains. Of cannon fire, and wrong desire. Of winter nights both cold and rain. Of the billions to many, who feel alone. Of fear and cowering, of the engraved stone, both date and name. You’re going to die anyways, this fact is as true as dark and light. But this is not a reason, to forget the day, and live as monsters, in long hours, of the night. You are going to die anyways, this statement, within all it is, is true, Let it not be the reason, for nullification, and steps away, from all the good, our hearts, our minds, our bodies and our souls can do. Lord, let this not come between me and you Lord, let this not come between me and you. -By Eric Weick © 2014 Eric Weick |
