Things Of Little Matter

Things Of Little Matter

A Poem by Eric Weick

Hold on, just keep holding on-

to things of little matter.

Feels like, she doesn’t have time for you,

cares less, in the years gone by,

about what you do.

And all he want’s, is his arms with hers again,

So hold on, just keep holding on, my friend-

to things of little matter.

That watch he wears, those diamonds in her hair,

that dress she had faired,

all across the way.

It fades in color, years holding hands with him,

day after day.

And love is a- lonely word.

Feels a lot less lonely with her hands in yours.

But all I know, is rock and stone amongst these waves.

I know of no island out here that can truly save.

But he holds on, just keeps holding on-

to things of little matter.

Loss of home, forgets to call him sir.

Friends are fading, and enemies begin to stir.

Just keeps his heart locked in, an open lion cage,

And in this belly of Hell, curves it all to rage.

And just holds on, just keeps holding on-

to things of little matter.

Vanity, can’t he see? The old say all will fade.

One constant, is this -Forgiveness-

tis the hardest path to pave.

Finds himself questioning, give up love? Give up on life?

Give up this love? To find a life?

She stands oh so tall in the city of Rome, amongst the famed,

But God is outside its gates.
