Ann In White

Ann In White

A Poem by Eric Weick

What if you could have been her knight

never covered her in black,

in shining armor could you have saved her,

or was it a vision of her

in white,

that you had lacked?

Can not live,

with you in the mirror

after all I’ve given

turning back

I fear, I can not,

come back. God?

Real reality, setting in,

like the roots of a tree.

She is the ground, she is the dirt.

And the rain, the sun, and these voices,

never to see,

they only help the roots …grow.

The blue sky, the shining knight,

She asks, “Will I ever see him, will I ever see him? “

Meanwhile her nightmare,

becomes his fantasy.

She holds her hands to her chest

heart clenched tight,

If only the pain, could stop,

If only the rain would have stopped,

Human voices, like the human hands,

these…that broke her.

You are welcome Eric.
Thank you for this entry to my little contest.
I cannot comment now as this would be unfair to other entries.
I shall return after the contest is over.
Best regards.
