I Wish To Challenge DeathA Poem by Eric WeickI wish to challenge death, that day, on which he should take me. Unpleasant and quarrelsome, for him it shall be, until my last breath escape me. I wish to challenge death, not a coward, but fighting him on every hill. Until my bones fail me, and my skin fades, until I have done right, by my Gods loving will. I wish to challenge death, that my heart may stop, only on Gods appointed time. That my eyes may wake and my hands may write until I have seen those green lands divine. I wish to challenge death, regardless of being sick, poisoned or ill. That I not glorified, but the sons echo remain, a stain on the hearts I love, even after my death still. I wish to challenge death, riding out overmatched, on his dark barren land. That when his sword may pierce heart, I can say, here, for God and his son, I have made my stand. -By Eric Weick © 2014 Eric WeickFeatured Review
