Shooting StarsA Poem by ChristineFalling asleep one night, I hard a large bird, wings flapping outside the window.....Shooting Stars Last night I heard the wingbeats of a bird so large it seemed to span the house Brushing the walls and sweeping the skies all at the same time The house shook and trembled and the stars clattered and jangled together Just a dream, I thought, a heavenly vision on the edge of sleep But this morning, as I left the house I saw A feathered brush stroke up the walls and across the roof And in my garden, 'mongst the foxgloves, Were three stars, upended in the lawn
