Midnight MayhemA Story by ChristineThis is a story written in rhyme, about a small girl wondering what she will see if she wakes up in the night. Intended to be a picture book.Midnight Mayhem
If I wake up at midnight
Will there be polar bears
Will I find a snowman
Dancing on the stairs
High up in the attic
I can hear the squeak of bats
Will there be scary monsters
Wearing funny hats
What if I should creep into
The bathroom for a wee
Will there be a goldfish
Gazing up at me
Are there fairies in the kitchen
Sipping cups of tea
Eating fairy cakes
And will they save a piece for me
Downstairs in the sitting room
I might just have to see
If I can catch those kangaroos
Watching the TV
Over in the dining room
Will I catch a glimmer
Of the Queen and her relations
Savouring their dinner
Outside in the garden
If I take a peek
I'm sure I'll find a football team
Playing hide and seek
What if I should peep inside
The brand new garden shed
Will I find the builders
Bill and Tom and Fred
And in the downstairs cloakroom
What is that lovely sound
It's a choir of noisy bullfrogs
Slip sliding around
Down in the front garden
I'd like to place a bet
There's a sober group of penguins
Playing string quartet
But there's a butler in the hall
And he's really very smart
He's offered me the most delicious
Piece of cranberry tart
It's a noisy group of people
For such a little place
I'll ask the Queen next time she's down
If the palace has more space
