How easy it is for anyone of us to pick up the offense of another whether a child's, a spouse's or a friend's. Isn't it enough to deal with our own? Holding resentment, bitterness and unforgiveness towards others utterly destroys.

Jumping on the Wrong Band Wagon

 

Be ever so careful, my sister-my brother

Not to pick up the offense of another

Though it comes natural to want to protect

Not knowing both sides will surely infect

 

Our thinking becomes muddled very quickly

Our hearts become muddied and sickly

As we carry their knap sack on our backs

Along side our own personal pack

 

Our words can inflict pain like a sharp arrow

Piercing a heart and plundering joints and marrow

In an effort to protect a friend, sister or brother

We quickly and thoughtlessly ravage another

 

We aren’t always aware of what this dear one is going through

Sometimes we have not the slightest clue

We’re too quick to pass judgment, too quick to pull back the bow

Creating a heart with numerous wounds and holes

The damage has already precariously been done

Nothing has been accomplished and we definitely haven’t won

The ravaged pieces must be picked up and put back into place

While healing and encouragement is extended to get back into the race

 

The law of gravity is a part of life

We’ll reap what we’ve sown, be it love or strife

For what goes up, must always come down

What we hand out will come back around

 

If we speak well of others, we will be spoken well of

If we speak ill of others, we will be spoken ill of

If we deal out cards of strife and dissention

We’ll be dealt back anger and contention

 

If we want to be loved, we must choose to love others

If we want to be encouraged, we must encourage another

Yes, the law of gravity works for friends and for foes

We will generously reap whatever we choose to sow

Carole, this is terrific and it says so much about mankind..If we only would take the time to see both sides before we say anything or better yet,,keep our mouths shut if we do not know all of the circumstances we would be better off.. My dad used to say when asked to comment on something he knew nothing about for sure { Better to keep my mouth shut and appear ignorant, than to open it and remove all doubt.} You have a lot of wisdom we all could learn from in this piece..God bless Valentine

Let's hope I get this one right Carole, I'm sure if I don't you will let me know! The vortex of the message is "You reap what you sow" And uncontrollable tongues cause much damage in judgement of others. We do need to be very careful about hurt that is carelessly inflicted. I feel as if this is the work I reviewed before???? I think also that I'm tired!! This is skillfully written with emphasis on bible quotation, which is the way to go where moral issues are concerned. You know your subject and it shows...love the font as well...

Okay, don't take this offensively, but that had a lot of cliches. That being said, that was a very good piece on the idea. As writers we understand how easily words can change things. Words make people do actions whatever they may be. So actions might speak louder than words, but without words there would be no action.
