Sweet Release

Sweet Release

A Poem by Carole

Circumstances

Weighing me

    D

      O

        W

           N

Heaviness

All around

Crying for

Release

Begging for

Retreat

I’ve carried this

Far too long

My strength being sapped

No longer strong

“Lay it down

  Lay it down”

  I hear from within

  Quietly and silently

As the dropping of a pin

I release it gently

To His feet

At last I bask

In joy and in peace

Sweet release…

Beautifully written, my dear and heard loud and clear. the simplest truths. This is wonderfully refreshing this morning and it lets me know that you are okay which makes me glad today.

You do this structure justice. :=) .... just sayin' .....
Love ya!

This is great! I loved the structure of it. Excellently written. I loved the rhymic scheme you used, and the D O W N was so great!

You are absolutely right. The simplest truths bare merit. Sometimes we forget that we are already forgiven and hold onto guilt and hurt when all we have to do is let it go. You packed in a lot of meaning without being stylishly over indulgent. Definitely one of the top things I've read in a while.

Writing helps so may of us to find hope when we are in despair. This poem is very well said. It is 'sweet' and simple and echoes a deep sentiment, so many of us know...

A nice refreshing little poem. We all need that release from the shackles of drudgery. Nice work, my friend.

We too often allow ourselves to be a prisoner of guilt . Only we hold the key
for our release from this bondage.

John 8:32 (New Living Translation)

32 And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.

An elegantly poignant composition.

Carole, this is a lovely poem , so elegant and richly done. To me it meant simply confessing something that was becoming to hard to continue carrying. Very beautifully done. Going to my favorites. I must thank James for sending me here to your lovely poem.
