Opulent Elegance

Opulent Elegance

A Poem by Carole
"

I wrote this for a contest. We had to describe a picture... :-)

"

A resplendent tapestry embracing the sky

Opulent elegance fashioned for the eye

A heart-shaped cloud bursting with light

A woven wonder and rare delight

Trees nimbly casting shadows on sunlit grass

Beautiful black silhouettes, impeccable class

A dazzling orange flower embellishing our world

Like an oyster shell flaunting her exquisite pearl

A burnt umber sky embroidered with fastidious care

An interlacing of colors exceedingly rare

A carefree day in the hammock under the tropical palm

Bathing in the ocean breeze, a tranquilizing balm

Two dainty angels with wings to take flight

Buoyant dancing and frolicking in the silken sunlight

Eight souls filled with gregarious joy and delight

As they jump for the stars in the evening twilight

This is a great piece and I read the refiews and I am like the other man it is hard to read in the color you chose..I did not see the pictures so I do not know where the last grouping comes in but I love the first three..very elegant use of our language and nicely composed..Valentine

This is a wonderful, expressive and beautiful piece. I finally see what poetry should look like..lol I'm envious of your skills. It made me feel happy just reading it, very cohesive all the way to the final line. Lovely work!

This is a well composed poem that uses vocabulary that paints a picture far more detailed that many poems that cont 50x the words. The flow was surreal one could feel that burning desire to drift graciously. I agree with Michael and Valentine.

Nice write and I look forward to reading more of your writes.

This is about as perfect a poem as there can be. I smiled from the beginning and it grew wider with each word.

absolutely graceful carol, a masterfully painted vision, delving, passionate, caring, special.
depthfully powerful, the entire scene is magical, loving, embracing ethereally envisioned,
your words flow from the soul and through your pen, absolutely beautiful, thank you for sharing
this vision with the reader, its colors are divine, its a tranqual, soulfully projected scene
is dreamy, captivating, "burnt umber sky embroidered with fastidious care"
as well the rhyme form is impressively expressed, with sentiment given to each word.

Your poem leaves me in a dreamy state of peace. Your title is so beautiful and so is your entire poem. Your first stanza did me in with your lovely words. I love how you see the true beauty and worth of God's creations....."A dazzling orange flower embellishing our world
Like an oyster shell flaunting her exquisite pearl"
This is so lovely and wonderfully written! I'm saving this to favorites, it's beautiful!

I love this poem. You are such an amazing poet and every word is seen, heard and felt. That's not easy to do....but you make it look that way! I think this is my favorite!

great poem!
I wonder if in this line you could pick specific colors instead of just "colors"?
An interlacing of colors exceedingly rare
I got so much imagery and then that one just stopped the show in my mind becauase i couldn't paint in the right colors...:)
maybe interlacing blues and pinks and violets exceedingly rare....??
I duno much about poetry...but I just thought I'd mention it in case you wanted to know :)
otherwise, this is most beautiful poem ever :)
