Thinking of himA Poem by Autumn's Child“I was just thinking of you,” he said. Funny. I was thinking of him too. After I woke up each kid regardless of their feelings about school. After I scrambled to get lunches ready, breakfasts made, shoes on and backpacks filled, all while getting myself ready for work. After I paid the rent, the daycare bill, the school bus pass, for the groceries, the school clothes, the soccer gear. After I took one kid to one place and picked up the other somewhere else. After I noticed once again that the promised check never hit the mail. After I warmed up leftovers nobody wanted to eat. After I fought to get homework done, showers taken, teeth brushed, bedtimes abided by. After I balanced a full check register and an empty bank account. After I collapsed on the couch and surveyed a house that one pair of hands could never keep clean. After I went to bed too late to just do it all again the very next day. Yeah. I was thinking of him too. © 2008 Autumn's ChildReviews
