Everything I am not saying

Everything I am not saying

A Poem by Autumn's Child

Maybe you know everything I am not saying,

that you are the very reason the sun rises in the morning,

sending golden rays of light through the trees

that hide waking birds

that will sing their morning song to create the day.

You are why the sand takes on the shape of my bare foot

as I run towards oceans of salty water

that spray its sea mist in my face and in my tangled hair,

giving me moments of absolute bliss

in finding something so complex about something so simple.

Your eyes are the muse for poems about drowning in lipid pools

and getting lost in the windows to the soul

and never finding the end

to your two bottomless caverns

that exist on the beauty of your face.

The sound of your voice was transposed in the creation of poetry,

exposing the truth of the almighty metaphor,

abetting the always artful alliteration,

raining syllables that rhyme without reason,

and dancing in the rhythm that keeps the heartbeat of prose.

The taste of your lips

exists in the tender flesh of the sweet cantaloupe

that has been ripening on my countertop,

filling my kitchen with the heavenly scent

of your breath mixed with mine

in a smoldering moment.

Your soul is more infinite than all the sands on the beaches,

the stars in the sky and the vast expansion of the universe

backwards and forwards,

where I find myself blissfully coasting through

just by the touch of your hand.

You are the notes I can’t reach

in the song I want to sing

with the words I wish I had written

for you,

about you,

whose melody makes me cry

as much as the smile does in your eyes.

You are that height just out of reach,

that ocean just too deep,

the wind I can’t catch,

the air I want to breathe.

You are the silence in my breath as you come close to me

and place your celestial kiss on my mouth

and take away the apologies

when it comes to everything I am not saying,

but wish I could.

Dear Autumn,
Sometimes I read a poem and I don't know what to say because it is so beautiful. This is one of those times.
This is my favorite of your's and that is saying a lot. Whoever you're writing about sure is one lucky person.
That's it I'm having some cantalope for lunch today!

Yes, sometimes it is the things unsaid that really say the most.

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh this is so gorgeous. :) :) :) :) yay. glad i read this before bedtime, it's so sweet

"You are why the sand takes on the shape of my bare foot
as I run towards oceans of salty water"

that was fantastic right there- and there were so many more moments just as good.

i adored the imagery of the cantaloupe and that entire part of the piece - really light and beautiful and yummy

then the part at the end - the silence in your breath - oh girl that is beautiful and oh so aptly put :)

love it. love it. i'll have to read it again when i'm not so gosh durn tired. :) but regardless, it's going in my favorites.

i also love the 'apology' part of it - and the title was excellent; i just glanced at your latest ten pieces or so, and picked my favorite title - this was definitely it, and it worked beautifully with the piece :)

hugs
