GardensA Poem by Autumn's ChildListening to "House of Cards", imagining my own.Just as you turn away I grab your hand. And time stops. It is in this moment that you look at me. And you see straight through me. Past the facade of goodness. Beyond the cobwebs of insecurity. Through the heart I have hidden under bricks and rocks and anything else I can find to build that wall that flimsily protects me. There is a place in my garden that only sees the sun for a few moments in the day. The place is bare except for one brave flower drinking in sunlight only during those few moments. The rest of its day is spent in the dark. But it lives for those moments of light. And it is ever faithful to those moments, knowing that it will come every day and growing in that faith that when the warmth is gone, it will return again. Time has stopped for this moment, the moment right now when you are looking at me and I am looking at you. And we know. We know. And it is this delicate moment that I live for the moment I have faith in the one I hold my breath for and let you breathe for me….. The one before the world resumes again and we are once again leaves in the wind. © 2008 Autumn's Child |
