"Roll Call"A Poem by Cbklyn4uMy feelings, a New Yorker's point of view of post 9-11... eight years
Roll Call
A day put aside to demonstrate
Our glorious pride, to commemorate
The thousands who had their lives
Cut short that Sept. morn
When families awoke to arise
Only to find their lives were scorned
Flags flew, tears were shed
Silence became a plague
Words not needed to be said
Answers needed were only vague
Time heals, can help with one’s pain
But can it help with what America should still feel?
Where are all the American Flags? Display them again
My memory has far from healed
“Always Remember,” a phase shouted still
Around the world, American cities and towns
But yet that Memorial is still past due
That should have been laid on that sacred ground
The Roll Call of all that had perished
Each tied to someone they love
Forever in their hearts, forever cherished
Even though now from above
In PA, The Capitol, the monuments are there
Why await for those taken at the World Trade
Red Tape overshadows the care
We can’t let those memories fade
I am a New Yorker, hit badly was my home
For I knew some who were there
We cannot stand alone
Our victims are due their share
Sacred ground, zero they call
Still awaiting it’s new life
Build that memorial for them all
For their loved ones, children and wife
