You Never Learned How

You Never Learned How

A Poem by Cbklyn4u

You Never Learned How

How to receive love as a baby,  for it was there

To look out tenderly at your siblings with more than a care

To cherish memories growing up so carefree

Didn’t matter the times,  life is oh so lovely

And as time goes on, one looses  innocence

Growing up can be so quickly immense

But the love you didn’t carry, that was always around

Looked down on things with oh such a frown.

It boggled you down as the road became your own

Your own child, seeking you, you were not alone

But life was engulfed by your own reflection

And time stood not still ,  not even for your affection

Now alone and pondering on what could have been

See not what you could of engulfed in?  Was it oh, such a sin?

Sit quietly alone and say It wasn’t fair

But you are the one who has to learn how to care

Never too late a lesson, learned in life

For God has given you a bigger strife

It is not about you, but what you have given

Which path shall you choose that you have still not driven?

Time ticks till the end, take the seconds with pride

Love is not anything that you should ever try to wrap up and hide.

Not with children, family or the ones that do care

Give back what was given to you, stop to compare

That life has to offer many lessons and trials

It is you who has to get in and take in the miles

Of nurturing, tenderness, let go of your rage

Leave the selfishness behind, in your steel woolen cage
