Taste

Taste

A Poem by Chris Bighorse

I taste you
like I taste gun metal
after a bloody nose,
like pennies under the tongue.
You're subtle, passionate,
precise, like sipping poison,

bitter like nibbling sandpaper.

I sample your thoughts

on popsicle sticks,
savor your emotions
like fine wine,
flavor my soul
with your essence.

I taste you
like I taste rain
before a summer storm.

somebody was lamenting the other day that all love poems are cliche and over-rated, they obviously haven't read you

About
I am Navajo. My tribe does not call itself that, but the schools I've been to have called us such and the name has stayed. So, to you, I am Navajo. To me, I am Chris. Hopefully, in getting to know.. more..
