ExtremesA Poem by cbastienA poem of extremes. The hysteria Mania Maddened laughter of those with God syndrome Who breathe fire unto the world And beget strikes of lightning in their eyes Desperate to dance themselves to exhaustion To sing till their throats rupture And sweep the millions to their knees Bowing in reverence to the temporal kings and queens Birds scream for them, elephants moan, and the earth quivers at their whispers And then Falling. Agonized shrieks of desperation Tears of blood and spirit Flowing forth like a river Echoes of hollowness in their chests And the splintering of their fragile bones The lightning in their eyes cauterizing the wounds in their souls Glasgow smiles and Cheshire cat masks Hearts worn on the sleeve being drained by red lines Falling without end. A kingdom in ruins. Their worshippers now tearing at them viciously Shaky breaths and a stomach doing backflips And then Rising. © 2017 cbastienAuthor's Note
