I Think She is Trying to Kill Me

I Think She is Trying to Kill Me

A Poem by Cheyenne

I think she is trying to kill me
Cold eyes watching me so closely
Eyes of death darker than the deep sea
Two small holes empty and ghostly

I feel her breath on my tear stained face
Her evil laughter fills my ears
Arms opening wide for an embrace
She knows my deepest fears

I hear her speak soft and steady words
She says it will soon be over
I begin to see spotted black birds
The grip on my throat gets tighter

I cough and begin begging for air
Something inside starts to scream
A sound from me that's pure despair
I see her breath starting to steam

I break away from her clawed grasp
I try to run but my feet freeze
She grabs me with a tighter clasp
As she swings her hand I feel the breeze

High above her head is a raised knife
My will to survive takes control
I am not ready to lose my life
I feel that in my soul

My vision blurs as I raise my fist
Glass shatters all around my feet
I see blood pouring down my wrist
Covering my body with heat

A million pieces of her face stare
Shards of mirror littered around me
A realization too much to bare
I know I will never be free

The knife begins to feel too heavy
My fingers drop it in defeat
Moving to catch tears of confetti
I feel my sad heart slowly beat

Her evil eyes are replaced with pain
I knew her dead face all along
Heart broken tears burst and pour like rain
Darkness swallows me like a song

Lovers and friends gather close to me
Sad words like melodies surround
Dirt and tears mixed together like tea
They lower me into the ground
