Gertrude Kasebier, Blessed Art Thou among Women

Gertrude Kasebier, Blessed Art Thou among Women

A Poem by caroline

A young girl looks out onto the

glistening stage

                for the

                                third time

 thousands of eyes staring  only

                at her

does she know her lines?

                will she stutter

                                or will she faint

suddenly the bow around her

                neck tightens

the belt around her waist is

                misplacing her kidneys

"Go My Dear"

                she freezes at the

                                sound of that voice

she remembers what they say

                she's an angel

she leaps and bounds through

                the air

what is she leaps too high

and drifts up to the sky

what if she cries

                because she's too shy

for us to see her fly

the lady behind says

                                "goodbye"

into the blue, sunny sky

                the women behind

pushes by

                                into the

                sky

                                where the angels

                fly

                                nobody knows

                how high

                                they fly

she takes a leap and cries

just in time for

                scene  five

                she knows her

mother

                                was there

                alive

watching  her  fly

I love the form of this poems, it adds to the mood. You can almost hear the little girl's nervousness in the words, and the music coming from the stage. This was really well done!
