My Treasure

My Treasure

A Poem by carlosav

A jem carried by the sea
of such a habitat of destruction and waste, a sole shining jem is carried to me
one i pick up, see it near worthless, but still stash it
maybe one day, some day, any day, it'll see fit
for something more
than to be left alone on the floor

with and more, the mysterious jem grew
not in size, but of sheer value
the jem i found one day and disregarded
grew on me in ways distorted
that a what i had was not something usual
but real, and pure, and deep yet casual

the jem would sparkle, very bright
in the darkness, it provided light
i need safe ground to stay
the jem grew wide and never strayed

i knew that this jem
wa more than i thought
but events occured
to the jem, known not

i was more of a liar
and much less anything it thought
i lived in a lie, it never knew
i had to do one thing, one thing that's true

i took the jem back to where i found
i raised my arm up and cast it back out
out into the sea it flew
away from me, away from what grew

the truth tells though
as far as plain goes
i was saved more than once
but i could never save back, not for you, not for us.

This poem itself, is true. I can really relate, having something that you can clutch even in the despair you try to get away from by fantasyisng,
