What's so funny?

What's so funny?

A Poem by caitlin

What's so funny?
What's wrong with my face?
The glasses?
The braces?
Is a hair out of place?
Come on, tell me, am I too tall?
Too plump, too spotty- am I too small?
Is my nose too long?
Is my skin the wrong colour?
Am I too smart perhaps, should I be duller?
Do I like the wrong music and say the wrong thing?
Is it that I can't dance? And I certainly can't sing?
Would you laugh at me less if I read fewer books?
If I was good at sports, and I had better looks?
Is it that I'm smarter than you'll ever be?
I can see that would rankle- I'll try not to be.
I'm glad it's clear, and we've talked it throught.
Now let's start on what's wrong with You!

This poem reminds me of how it was to be when i was young and had all these type of securities. I guess as we grow older and wiser but some of the insecurities still stick. We still feel judged but thenso do we still judge others.
It's a funny thing this human race.

This was really thought provoking and very well written.

Mark.

An entertaining and thought-provoking write. Slightly tongue-in-cheek, but serious also. Too many people are far too judgemental and shallow. We should all be more accommodating and be willing to look further than the surface. I enjoyed the read.

I like this. So many people are lead to self pity due to the petty actions and words of people that don't even know them. The typical idea of "fitting in" isn't necessary, we all fit in somewhere, whether that's home alone or with a group of people.
