beyond the paleA Poem by caitlinThis is a poem about the environment. And what mistreating the environment can lead too.
Silence falls all around.
Not even the lapping of waves upon the sandy beaches. Quite a boring exterior for a sleepy landscape. No birds singing. No trees tussled in the breeze. The water is so still, that the sky falls in reflection of it. Can all the fish be dead? Will not even one swim too the surface? Can not even a bird break the deadly calm of the sea? I care little for birds, or fish or even a broken silence. It's simply the gnawing at my soul, that brings up these moaning. The depression of a broken heart that makes me numb, too the beauty of insignificance. These things we take lightly can destroy the peace we feel within. If I had a heart, a soul or even a mind- I might care. But I don't. I can't. For I am simply a felled tree.
