The ProviderA Poem by catwriterI did feral cat/kitten rescue for over 2 decades. My husband and I saved thousands with trap/neuter/return. Homelessness is NOT a crime but rather a crime against helpless animals.Who serves the kin of fang and claw Until her name is sung By unseen voices high and low That trill with hope: she's come. She helps us so, the feral croon, Their ragged pelts caught by the moon. She keeps us well and fed. I haven't bred, but still I've led My life as I was born. While wild things sing, Provider slings The burden of their pain Into the bowls she drops, then walks The midnight streets they stalk.
