Left 4 Dead

A Chapter by Niko Timmy

Ben, Eric, and Michelle

"

Ben

Across the parking lot from the bathrooms, Ben watches Michelle struggle on the ground. She twists and turns in ways human beings shouldn't. He sees her hold back screams of pain, and eventually her human body vanishes and turns into something too dark for Ben to see in the light of the sunset.

Despite Ben's lack of sight on what Michelle is or was doing, he sees whatever she became move into the woods, soon to be out of sight.

After minutes of watching and observing, making sure Michelle won't come back, he walks casually across the parking lot. Once he reaches the bathroom, he picks up her clothes left behind and balls them up. He can smell her recently put on perfume on her clothes, wishing he didn't have to do this too her.

He walks to a random car in the parking lot, remembering his dad's lessons on how to hot-wire a car and break into it.

It'll be a long time before he sees his parents again.

He brings the car's engine to life and drives away, setting Michelle's clothes into the passenger seat.

Seconds later, Ben's phone rings. "Hello?" He answers.

"Ben," The caller responds. It's Ben's boss, Eric. "What happened? Did you watch her?"

"Yes, she morphed into...whatever it was and then fled. I have her clothes right here." Ben explains. He hears Eric sigh on the other end.

"Alright, bring them here and we'll talk about what to do next. She left, you said?"

"Yeah, she left. What can we possibly do from here? She's gone, there's no certain way to find her." Ben states.

"Shapeshifters are hard to miss, Benjamin. We'll find her."

~~~
Eric ends his call with Benjamin and sits back in his chair. Most of Redwood Academy is alseep, the students and the staff, but Eric has been awake all night. The vice principal of the school told him that a student had run away overnight.
It was Adam, the boy he made a vampire.
They'd find him eventually, too. Eric already sent search parties out for him. It's just a matter of time.
He is, however, worried about finding Michelle. Shapeshifters are tricky, especially when they don't know what they are yet.
Vampires have been around for years, prowling the earth's surface and feeding on humans. Eric has even made his own family of vampires, making more every day. But shapeshifters have never shown their face yet, and Eric and his crew have many tests and experiments to perform on Michelle.
Hopefully it is only Eric and his crew of scientists that know about the vampires and recent shapeshifter. Eric's been researching all possible ways for more immortals to be made. Chemicals in the human body mixing together to form the necessities for immortals to live. Having another real immortal to study from is the answer to their experiments and tests.
And possibly give them answers on how to make more of them.
Michelle
I fly above the trees, looking down to see the leaves and branches and earth pass below me. I have no destination, just the urge to fly and be free. I see the horizon miles away, and Lake Huron to the East. I see birds flying to  my left and wonder if I, myself, am a bird.
Do I have wings? Feathery, long wings and light bones to help me fly? Do I have a yellow beak and beady eyes? Do I fly among the trees via airplane or via wings?
Wasn't I once human? Didn't I once walk on two legs, unable to fly?
All thoughts before I became this winged animal slowly leave my mind, and I forget my old life, only cherishing the freedom of the present. And fearing the moments of the future, for when I come back to the two-legged, featherless creature I once was.
Niko Timmy
It's a little short - doesn't really match up with how long it took me to write it. Sorry. Hope it's ok though.
