She watches the flag

Her soon-to-be husband
they will buy a house
where they both will live together

She weeps for her beloved
not her husband
but the boy at the market
the one her heart desires

Her father hears her nearly silent cries
He scolds her, tells her she must marry him
He is wealthy, like her family
he will do her good

A lot better than her market boy could...

That is not true...

He will bring her happiness
something her loathed husband could never do.

Her heart aches for him everyday
