Comes The DawnA Poem by catofjade~ picture courtesy of morgueFile
Hast thou done wrong? Wearing a ragged cloak of shame as thy blackened conscience cried Out to God
in desperate agony of soul?
Hast thou heard cutting, bitter words of sharp anger and careless prejudices spoken By men whose hasty hatreds and judgements of violence filled their hearts? Hast thou beheld dreams of peace in cherished alliances swiftly broken? Comes the dawn, to justify and reunite the various scattered, shattered parts.
Hast thou
heard the moans of the fallen upon the battlefield of life?
Hast thou with thine own self gone to war?-- then found 'twas difficult to choose Which side
to stand against, or for? 'Twixt thy dark, or thy light? Comes the dawn, shining its bright clarity upon that holy fight.
Twin conquests: thine own quixotic desires, and thy immortal, divine, soul; With these first triumphs dost thee nobly earn thy singular, blessed right To decide and design what manner of man thee must come to be When fast falls the darkness, and endless seems the evil night, In chaos confusion runs amok and wise counsellors do not agree, And thy most careful, best-wrought plans take hurried flight, Comes the dawn, to eliminate all self-doubts and misery; Comes the dawn to illuminate and fill thee full of light; Comes the dawn, to renew thy vision, reveal the truth, and revise thy strategy, Comes the dawn to strengthen and encourage thee to rise up once again in thine own might.
Then hold! And hold! With all thy strength, hold! Hold and do not bend! Hold on
though to the right, then left, fall friend after beloved
friend! Hold! Trusting that thy loyal Lord shall His armies of angels send! Hold to every bit with every bit thee hast! Hold 'til all hope is gone! For look! There cometh rays of light! 'Tis Victory! And with it, Comes the dawn!
