Toy soldiers, in straight lines
In yesterdays we left behind Childhood dreams, innocent designs Of a peace I cannot find Hidden in my mind. Hide and seek in a cornsilk maze Kaleidoscopes of golden haze Lazy, sun-filled, summer days Where a carefree child endlessly plays In that bright land where happiness stays. Parts of me have died, unknown Sightless eyes that cried, alone Diamonds of hope amongst grief sown Through the years in tears still shone Clay pieces, broken, though cast in stone, Prayers uttered in monotone, Flesh become as dry as bone, My soul echoing my spirit's groan, Respite, respite, comes the low moan, But Mercy upon white wings has flown Leaving me in the darkness to atone For all the sins I call my own. © 2013 catofjadeReviews
