ComeA Poem by Cat McGeeWhy do you tremble dear, As you look upon me? I can tell, staring into your eyes, It's naught to do with fear.
Do you know the vices child? Those that tempt your soul? Those that determine your afterlife? Need you be told?
You see within me Avarice and Gluttony, My desire for all material wealth. And the Envy I hold for those Who succeed where I fail.
I see within you the Pride your beauty brings. And the storm of Wrath in your eyes Should another dare deny The symmetry of your face.
Your salacious hunger beckons me. Come, give in to Lust. Revel in sin. Forget the cost.
Has not sin already overtaken us? Are we not already drawn to Sloth? A spritual apathy we allow To rule our mortal lives?
If the wages of sin be Death, And Death be inevitable, Then I say child, come, Let us sin 'til our last breath.
'Tis better to ask permission? Nay! Forgiveness. Which He will surely give For we are favored and in His image made.
He tempts us to the seas of failure, And before we drown, offers us a way out. Come dear, come to me now. Come to me free of doubt.
Hades rule us now, Zion save us after. Oh the woes! Oh the horror! Oh the trials and tribulations Of mortal sinners. © 2013 Cat McGee |
