Red Light

Red Light

A Poem by Cat

When you've been beaten so many times, you stop asking why.
You stop forgiving.
You stop wanting to be stronger.

All you can do is stop.
Stop moving.
Trying.
Caring.
Crying.

You give in to the punches.
You don't run away. You don't curl into a ball.
You stop defending yourself and stand against the wall.

You take all the strength you've left in yourself,
and throw it out the window.
You watch it flow out and you stop wondering where it's going.
You don't even remember
how you got it in the first place.

And you look inside yourself and think,
"How the hell was I going for so long?"
When now you're standstill.

No one stopped you.
You stopped yourself.
Now you're stuck.

The poem told a real story for many woman.
"No one stopped you.
You stopped yourself.
Now you're stuck."
Above line are true. We must decide to escape a bad relationship. Human nature can be a bad thing. We can learn to accept less and abuse without fight. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.
