Secret Desire

Secret Desire

A Poem by Cat

You fill my mind with constellations and wait a light year to speak a solemn word.
You take my smile and hide it in your pocket pretending to search for loose change.

You've kept me in your box, that dark wooden box, cold with gloss and nicked on the edges.
You kept me along with the items you hoard for memories of satisfaction.
Though your trophies balance on the shelf above your bed, so when you wake you know what you're really proud of.

SECRET DESIRE.
The poem is well written and appropriate.
I keep elephants over my bed. They remind
me of the staggering size of ---- what I owe
to mankind.
Thanks for the poem.

The first time I read this I was at work. I broke down and openly wept. As the teardrops fell, I realized that I hadn't returned my redbox rental. Thank you. Let me preface this - I am so sorry. I didn't know how you felt about me.

The first line, about constellations.... it's in reference to the time we went to the renaissance fair, when the stars were shining so bright.. I sat down in peanut butter on the bleachers, remember? I'll always laugh about how I fell off and broke my arm. It still hasn't healed, I can't move it very well.

The moral of the story is, I miss US.

The poem left the reader with question. The poem words honest and direct. The secret desire. Hidden need and want. Things keep hidden in deep corner of the mind and the heart. I liked the poem. Made me think and ponder tonight. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

You're being abused, Cat, or are you in love and he's just slow?
