Shutdown

Shutdown

A Poem by Firebird
"

Autumn thoughts

"
Rotting leaves on the pavement,
A chill in the air,
Colours sad,
Fading.
Strangers walk by,
Heads down,
Alone.
Minds cold,
Numbed,
Shut down.
Sparse trees drip,
Silent and still,
Sap withdraws.
Last flowers
Dying.

You show well the sad face of winter. Nicely done. Great imagery of the seasons change.

Thank you Willard. I will take a look at your poems.
I enjoyed the sad, sparse feeling that this poem evoked for me. It was very stark. This is a bit unusual for you I think, but I thought it was great.

Perfectly capturing autumn.. I always disliked those rotting leaves on the pavement, especially after it had rained, which it does here quite a lot. They remind me of soggy cornflakes, which is one of the grossest things ever.
