Three Small Girls

Three Small Girls

A Poem by Firebird
"

A poem about hopes and dreams

"
Toasting toes by the fire,
three small girls sit
eating scorched chestnuts.
Laughing at secrets,
holding hands tightly,
sharing fresh dreams.

Time passes,
life unfolds,
people change.

Forty years later,
cold coffee shop meet-up,
re-living memories.
They're mothers and givers,
with life's baggage and burdens,
tired, broken dreams.

Feelings pass,
thoughts ebb and flow,
visions change.
The child remains.

So my lovely sisters,
let's light our sparks,
and fuel the fires,
share hot, roasted chestnuts
and forge shiny new dreams.

Ah, the days of childhood innocence, lost amongst the worries of adulthood, but never quite forgotten. Great write.
