The end of a Golden StringA Poem by Catherine LiThis is a poem I wrote for my school poetry contest. Unfortunately, I did not win. It's about love that is not reciprocated.I give you
the end of a golden string. (hoping for
no more than what it will bring) The lies tricks and deceit will no longer separate us
but rather trust and
trust will adhere us together You shall be
a merry man, and a merry
man I will be once more. I give it to
you to plead for your bittersweet love and the
affection I want more than a white dove (for love is
more deep-rooted than freedom in all men) So it shall
be that your words will always be endearing, and my
adoration for you will always be never ending. Our bond shall
be as tight as the same chains who
imprisons the guilty, and that is
so from my desperate soul to the warm
crevices of my heart. All that
will be when there is a golden string The transparent
tie, invisible to
the naked eye. So I gave you
the end of a golden string. That is, my
golden string (hoping for
more than what it did bring) But it did
not. © 2015 Catherine LiAuthor's Note
