Dry TearsA Poem by cat13Written through difficult timesDry Tears
As the light evaporates, Darkness gradually eats away at existence. The soul crumbles like a derelict building, appreciated only by the rapidity of its decay.
No-one turns the light out. It merely fizzles dry with spoken words, Wrong gestures, Selfish acts of indulgence.
Silence acts as a dark stimulant, Seeping through the crevices of the body; penetrating deeper, becoming richer in complexity, smoother in power.
Once it reaches the heart, the pigment of darkness erupts into full bloom. Existence evolves into a dangerous game of self preservation cheered on by self hatred.
The body wrenches, wriggles and grapples, helplessly trying to gain some dignity. However, it only manages to lose itself in the web of pain, which intertwines the mind with mayhem.
Such games are often won and lost. Replayed and rekindled. It cannot be altered though. The outcome is predictable. Inescapable. © 2011 cat13 |
