Tradeoffs

Tradeoffs

A Poem by Cassidy

I am typing this

Because paper

Has become irrelevant

The physical act

Of moving your fingers

In choreographed patterns

Practiced for years

To reach perfection

Is too much

Like learning ballet

Then realizing that

Modern dance

Is less painful

Or learning to paint

Gorgeous landscapes

Then realizing

Painting solid lines

And simple shapes

Sold just as well

Or me writing this

Poem in freeform

Neglecting structure

Because being abstract

Was always simpler

But the real question

Is whether or not

By omitting the labor

We have lost

The beauty
