Don't Break the RainA Poem by Cassie WellerMy dedication to all the amazing people in this world that see things just a little differently.
Slowly, quickly, dodging time,
Fast as currents- falling brine. Tiptoe, race, and just as quick- Careful foothold, not to slip. I see a universe in every drop A galaxy falls with every plop. Others see rain and don’t see me; I see the worlds that they don’t see. Some call me strange, a mental case, Can’t understand my “slower” pace. I may think different than the mass (Each gentle drip is shattered glass.) I dance and mourn while they walk through Just getting where they needed to. I don’t mind, I’m not like them; My heart beats same, I live in skin, but thoughts, unique and so I smile Because they’re just not worth my while. I’m slow, “disabled”- they don’t know My soul flies higher than they go! They see me splashing, think it’s sweet, But all I hear is ocean-street. Playing on, my own life’s game. Careful now- don’t break the rain. © 2017 Cassie WellerAuthor's Note
