PrologueA Chapter by Cassie Charest
There is no trait on this planet more human than lying. In our everyday lives, subconsciously even, the truth is twisted around our fingers until it takes on an indistinguishable from. The so-called "truth" humanity holds up so high is a lie within itself. Everything we see and experience is perceptive. If there was a truth, well I'd be damned if we ever knew it. It's an impossibility. A false reality. The world is like clay, you can mold it into whatever you want as long as you're convincing enough. With a simple word, lies become the truth - if you can get people to believe you.
Long ago, my mentor told me that the best way to make money is to sell something people can't live without. People complain about the cost of food and water, but in the end they still buy it. They have no choice, otherwise they will die. Better than that, one can sell the very things that make humans what they are, I have come to realize. Prostitution and the sex industry are highly profitable for the sole reason that humans cannot be without sex. Everything which creates a human being can be sold off at a higher price in the hands of a smart business man. In other words, myself. This was the basis of my company. People lie in their everyday lives. The ones who are talented can get away with anything. However, this number is relatively few. The concept is simple: we will lie for you. The bigger the lie, the higher the cost. Politicians, stupid teenagers, cheating spouses, police officers, criminals, corporate CEOs, golf champions. Desperation brings them all to the same place. A lie is more believable when you have more people backing you. For many, it's a life or death situation. Some companies sell products, others sell stocks. Our merchandise is lies.
