I Say Your Name

I Say Your Name

A Poem by Chris Shaw
"

Mum Third Anniversary 1st Feb.

"
there will be no mourning
only gratitude for memories
placed with flora in glass vases
cream tea roses and pink carnations
while on the mantle there will be
white candles scented
effusing bouquets of jasmine love

my mind will carry my heart
in thought flight to the west country
where the tides embrace Anstey’s Cove
and kiss the feet at Thatcher’s Rock
wild water washing away
the last days of suffering, leaving
images of you smiling and waving

"effusing" is such a pretty word.
a positive last line, and a reminder this poem is of the love you had for her.

Watching a loved one suffer is a personal hell that when the end comes there is relief quickly followed by profound sadness. Powerful write dear poet.

Takes a while for the final months of a loved one's suffering to fade and be replaced with the good times shared.
This is a lovely write:)
