Too Soon

Too Soon

A Poem by Chris Shaw

her optimistic footsteps
went searching
walking on winding pathways
through to green grassy slopes
dusted with winter icing

into the darker woodland
for a first glimpse of spring
in clumps of delicate beauty
in sight of waters of the
fast flowing Thames

but they were still sleeping
not ready to waken and show
their pretty bell shaped flowers
signaling new beginnings

so she gifted me a necklace
with three tiny snowdrops
suspended from a silver chain
with a kiss and a promise
that photographs would follow
another day

This poem is inspiring as the coming of much- loved Spring.
Besitiful imagery laden with optimum optimism, kisses and promises.
I know the poet has preferred preferences in Great Britain that she enjoys to visit and take in the scenes.

You are welcome in Winter and when Spring has sprung
Nature personified...and she gave me three tiny snowdrops....Pictures of herself to follow.
I like that...nature, spring kissing us with promise...
we could use her to arrive now.
Your imagery just walks down the path and readers follow and take photographs.

Well this is a bit too optimistic for a Monday Chris... Well it would be if I had written it, so apology accepted! 😃
We actually did go for a walkette today, along the trail at the back of our house and was exactly like you mentioned it, except for the frostbite, the bird poop on my jacket, the ever so friendly snd delightful group of young snd nubile Norwegians and my moaning my suspicions that Katie was only doing this because we were going for a coffee later, in an attempt to stop steam coming out my ears when I noticed how many hipsters were pretending to ignore everyone in an attempt to look cool and be noticed!
Katie calls it a compulsion with me and to just let it go, which I can kinda understand because this is the fourth review I've done this ayem and also the fourth time I've mentioned those pointless wastes of oxygen. (Shh, don't tell her!) 😃
So, back to the point... don't you just hate how thry spend a fortune on retro clothes that make them look like they've just walked out a hovis ad? Erm, I mean...darker woodland and not being ready for spring just quite yet... okay, I'll book an appointment with a psychologist tomorrow, but if he/she/it turns out to be a hipster, ill not be a happy bunny... like my normal, carefree self!
😃
