the sun on lakeside water
gleams on surface glass
you can not fail to notice
that light can smother dark
it sparkles and it spangles
and here is where i’ll stay
till every drop of golden
has rinsed all doubts away
I adored the use of language dear Chris. You gave visions of the beauty of the lake. Thank you dear friend for sharing the outstanding poetry.

"The best things in life are free" may sound like a cliché, but as this poem reminds us, it is nevertheless true. As Emerson said, "Nature always wears the colors of the spirit," and taking notice of that creates a kind of ecstatic exuberance that this poem testifies of. It's a very vivid write that literally lights up one's soul.

I have no idea what Savoir Faire means but "light can smother dark" made me think ( once, darkness was all ....light came... darkness was defeated .... now, darkness is only shadow when light allows. )

The translation I got from different sources is knowing what to do in awkward times and situations, like possessing social skills, talents and graces.

Thank you Sami for joining the debate about my title. I appreciate you.
Frost warned us all that "Nothing Gold Can Stay". But then, neither can we. Maybe we should just enjoy what we have while we have it. It's nice to be suave and confident but, in my opinion, even better to be humble and understanding.

I am far from a confident person, you may have misunderstood the meaning of my poem as I intended. However I am ever thankful that you stopped by to give your thoughts. This is much more to do with taking advantage of light, when you feel you are in a dark place. Have a good day.

So the title doesn't have anything to do with the meaning? Interesting. Anyway, I gave a shot.
It is knowing how to deal with darkness when it comes. :) I am thankful for your interest:)

Savoir Faire means the ability to use proper decorum with confidence or urbanity. Thus, my confusion. But I merely tried, without success, to connect the title to the body of work. My confusion remains. Hope your week is going well. F.
