I don't know how I missed this gem Chris. A most beautiful haiku that also has deeper meaning to me. I see it as cooperation that people don't have. People are like sheep (pardon to the sheep) they mindlessly flock together regardless of purpose. The starlings have direction in their cooperation and it takes them together through blue skies.Lovely

Oh yes, watching the birds in formation is such a peaceful site. We can learn so much from starlings. They stick together and switch direction in tandem. They seem to be quite happy following the leader. Short and sweet form poetry. I like it. Lydi**

I love your poem, and especially how your use of the word "awe" captures it's original meaning, I often struggle to have students understand the original meaning of "awe" and "awesome" but you captured it here with just three short lines. I usually use an example of bats flying out of a cave to express the mixture of admiration and fear but perhaps showing a video of a murmuration will make it clearer. Thank You ;)
