( I must stop watching horror films at night, this is what my muse gave me this morning)
dance on my heart dark darling
dance with your boots of black longing
dance till every drop
is drained and contaminated
with the dirt on the sole of
your loathing
dance as you have never danced before
dance with the remnants of ragged abuse
this time make sure the job is done
so the sun will set with gleeful satisfaction
so it won’t rise at daybreak
in the mourning

Wonderfully macabre, almost whimsically so. The movies that came to mind (though no dancing that I recall anyway) was the 1961 film ‘Mr Sardonicus’ and “The man who Laughs”, more so the second than the first. Who knows why my brain veered that way, other than I’m just weird I suppose. Good job as always.

If it’s full of gore, I won’t go there, if it’s a psychological thriller, I might.

Relatively speaking it's not so bad compared to what is considered gore these days. It's an interesting movie outside of the horror aspect. An overall good way to waste 90 or so minutes of your time.

and I think you like physics... that movie would be considered "horror physics"... or "horror math"
This has that dark quality to it. Somehow, my mind started playing that weird horror music while I was reading this poem. So, you've done the magic well ;)

Thank you Yumna. Pleased the poem worked for you. Have a great Friday.
No. Don't stop watching horror movies. This is so good.
Haunting and steeped with dark imagery.
There's a clear feeling of despair and a longing for liberation.
Great write, Chris. Your dark side is very poetic. 🖤

Pleased you were able to pick up the darkness of what I watched on Netflix. I don’t often watch this type of stuff, but maybe I’ve found something else to write about. Another string to my poetry bow. Happy Friday to you.
Dark, foreboding, chilling, not adjectives I normally ascribe to your verses, Chris!
An Excellent Read!!! Rich in your sharing! And yes, also in the vein of a good Horror movie! Karloff, Vincent Price, Christopher Lee, I saw their faces, felt their terror. Your last line ran down my spine.
I'll sleep fitfully tonight o'course :) but Thanks nevertheless! :)

Mourning is a dark and turbulent time. Many times it comes in waves. It can appear without warning after months of not dancing

Eventually she found out he wasn’t quite who she thought he was. Like paintings, films can be quite inspirational material for poetry. Many thanks for stopping by PB.

You are most welcome as always. I enjoy your poetry
Albert, my paternal grandfather introduced me to Tennyson when I was nine. I have loved poetry ever since but did not attempt writing a single piece until I was 40. It's never too late to try somethin.. more..
