( I must stop watching horror films at night, this is what my muse gave me this morning)
dance on my heart dark darling
dance with your boots of black longing
dance till every drop
is drained and contaminated
with the dirt on the sole of
your loathing
dance as you have never danced before
dance with the remnants of ragged abuse
this time make sure the job is done
so the sun will set with gleeful satisfaction
so it won’t rise at daybreak
in the mourning
This dance is quite bitter...and quite dark.. please don't watch horror films the night before...it is well said, almost like punishment...much abuse noted too...get this evil out of you by dancing until you rid if it....
Well written dear Chris...
Warmly, B

Sometimes we need the darkness. Make us feel wild and free dear Chris. I did like the twist of words and thoughts. Thank you dear friend for sharing the amazing poetry. I did enjoy.

Thank you my friend for stopping by to review. Mist appreciated.
This poem had a feverish pace to it and a very palpable dark side. The dance is of hate and the speaker is bitter and knowing of the other half's abusive ways. The words drip with a sarcasm. Dear Chris, as always, you spin magic with your pen and pull the reader into this very intriguing scape. One wants to see more, learn more, read more....I loved this read!

You know it is amazing what, films and poetry can trigger. I don’t usually write on the dark side, but this one just spilled out. Not sure I am looking for repeat performances though:) Have a lovely day. We have beautiful weather at the marina today.
Awesome. I love this and have felt this as most probably have at some point.

The word painting in this mural of horror is artistic with multiple metaphors.

Wonderfully macabre, almost whimsically so. The movies that came to mind (though no dancing that I recall anyway) was the 1961 film ‘Mr Sardonicus’ and “The man who Laughs”, more so the second than the first. Who knows why my brain veered that way, other than I’m just weird I suppose. Good job as always.

Albert, my paternal grandfather introduced me to Tennyson when I was nine. I have loved poetry ever since but did not attempt writing a single piece until I was 40. It's never too late to try somethin.. more..
