inside your soldier hands
my silver heart
of sterling i am valued
more than gold
undo the tiny clasp
find you and i
the wealth lies in the
timeless bond we hold
i am the reason why
you fight to live
there’s nothing more of me
that i can give
our lips meet daily
in the desperate dark
come life or death
we’ll ne’er be torn apart
Romantic to the core, this piece contains all the ingredients, the memento or locket, that brings memories, the presenting of danger in the soldier, the threat of death and the pledge that even this will not separate an eternal bond. So nicely worded.

To me the first part was like someone was the locket rather then a locket and the love and joy that person felt and the ending I felt was the person trying to keep love through the darkness of lifes trials ..love how dynamic and interchangeable this poems is (hope their the right words)

No worries, Chris. Thank you for the comment. wish you a good time off and warm wishes, Abhi.
I love with passion this beautiful, poignant, heart rending poem, Chris. It is a wondrous tribute to a special soldier and all soldiers who died for our freedom today. What a very high price they paid, bless each and every one of them. Filled with love for that someone so special. I cherish the final lines which clearly state that in this life or the next NOTHING can ever keep you apart. Words straight from your beautiful heart to his. Though in Spirit, I know he never leaves your side. This poem touched my heart and mind in a very special way, Chris. SO heart-touching! A privilege to read, I thank you for sharing and wish you a very nice day to enjoy...

And of course thinking of all the soldiers who didn’t get back home to their sweethearts and wives in past wars. I appreciate your kindness. Enjoy the rest of the day.

I fortunate enough to have some belongings of my late maternal grandfather, who passed before I ever got the chance to meet him. Mine is a sentimental family, we do pass things down from one generation to another. It's nice. Cheers, Chris.

We do the same John. You can’t place a value on such items.

I was talking to my mother yesterday and we spoke about our late uncle and his passing. The celebration of life. That's how we choose to remember him, and I think there's much value in that kind of remembrance... we do matter and we do make an impact in this life.

I love how the essence and strength of love are depicted here. Love is humble and this poem speaks for it. It is rare to come across the sentiment of a 'locket' in nowadays poems. Beautiful 🤍
