Cold Feet

Cold Feet

A Poem by Chris Shaw

oh the times I have contemplated
the picnic that never was

played it out in my imagination
felt the breeze tickling
my exposed toes in the heat
of summer sun
as we graced the green grass
of the Derbyshire dales

the invitation though was real
and I am sure if i had caught
the train as I planned to do
my cold feet would surely
have had an exquisite treat
on that blanket
as I feasted on you
and sipped chilled chablis

It’s on its way. Can’t arrive soon enough. Thank you.

Chris
Ah, if you take all the what could've beens you could make a daisy chain and have a real party picnic. We'll I could anyway. 😀
But hey, what do I know. I'm sitting in my penguin onesie eating dessert of mint choc chip soft scoop ice cream from the tub in my panda onesie, because I spilled soup over my penguin onesie at lunch! 😀
This probably happened before everyone had a phone in their pocket, before constant messaging, I mean instant messaging even existed.
Now it's impossible to lose track of someone, unless of course you tell them where the body is buried in the hope of a lighter sentence.
Ahh, the gold old happy days. I miss them! 😀

Such a beautiful moment expressed from your mind.Thinking if only I had gone. Life little nibbles come across your mind. Images are clear inside the words you speak. Nice Chris ;-}

I have heard that cold hands indicates a warm heart but cold feet? Yes it makes total sense in the sense of this situation. Memories and what if's in life are always in our heads. We will never know. This poem provokes many questions Chris with many possibilities but no definitive answers.

Oh what a lovely poem, though I sense a state of longing/ missed opportunity with someone special.
Very beautiful imagery and has a very nice flow & rhythm to it.
