Beyond My Ability To Measure

Beyond My Ability To Measure

A Poem by Chris Shaw
"

(For K G a dear friend)

"

the garden outlook rear room
lets out a sigh

get ready for a marathon of chatter
when these two get to natter
time passes fastest

in the company of
family pets and the pop ins
that call by to say hi

look at that clock non stop
they are still at it putting the world
to writes, writing the wrongs

you across the pond of many miles
warm me with your smiles
how easy peasy our chat

we talk about this and that
till the cows threaten to come home
and somehow i always wish
they would take more time

dear friend of mine
know you are treasured
far beyond my ability
to measure

This is something that technology is taking away from us with texts, instant messaging, cell phones, etc. There is a home like feel to this poem that is seldom felt anymore. A sense of calm and quiet with the chatter where time is not the issue. This too has disappeared in todays world. All in all I felt with reading your poem a sense of what we all have lost.

True friendship is immeasurable, sustained by mutual things; a core value and a cornerstone.

Gracie millee...
What a lovely tribute to a dear friend across the pond.... I like the way you begin this piece with local chatter, people stopping in to day hi.... but in your heart, the most wonderful chatter is with your Friend far away, with whom you could talk, it seems, for days and and still have something more to say....
so sweet, Chris
Warmly,

Thank you Betty. Distant friendships can work out to be very golden. I am lucky with this one.
