this heart of mine
hasn’t yet recovered
it still weeps for the ache
that would have quenched
its thirst
four chambers beating in conflict
with those stretched strings
in my mind
why don’t you let go
it says
why can’t you let go
snow white
do what’s right
promises aren’t made to be broken
hear that moral compass
speak out loud
the moral fibre has spoken
but still after years I weep
for the deep feelings felt
melt away moments
yes it was love though not fulfilled
an unexpected surprise
not a cheap give away token
Dear Chris Shaw,
I really like what you have to say,
the ending keeps me lingering,
great write! ---Maynard

Some relationships have deeper roots than others. The memories of these stay with us, even when we think we've forgotten them, and then something will bring them back to us. This seems to be what has happened here. But of course they will fade away again, until the next time.

There is an existential value in that, not just the specific instance between us but the constant pursuit of finding meaning and value in communication. Being kind is the best way to do that , I wish I realized this a long time ago.
You wrote a really strong love poem here.
four chambers beating in conflict...time for a bypass.
WE give love away and others getting it for free cannot even respect us enough to treat us well.
sad state there.

It’s hard the heart to let go of those it loves. Even if it is what is best.

Definitely the heart want what it wants but we don’t alway get what we want
This reminds me of why the caged bird sings Chris. Regrets can hold us back from seeing what we have and not making that which we have another regret in the now or the future. Some guy, I think he was called Francie had a few but still managed to do things my way. Lucky git!
The rest of us just think those feelings in quiet moments and get on with what us now. We call the rest life!
Spur of the moment write seems apt, especially on a heavy clouded Sunday.
We all have those clouded Sunday moments, don't we? Some of mine just don't know which day of the week it is!

"Do the right thing" is often in conflict with what you really want to do but commitment stands in the way ...
Even years on that memory still makes your heart race ...
