Random Kindness

Random Kindness

A Poem by Chris Shaw
"

(Especially at this time of year)

"
when all the world’s in conflict
and the path ahead uncertain
each one of us in our own small way
can lighten someone’s burden

so if you read these words today
please remember what I’ve written
and practice what I’ve asked of you
to see the warmth you’ve given

a simple greeting like hello
this can’t be understated
can lift sad eyes and spirits too
like a balloon does when inflated

Dear Chris,
Such simple yet sound words of wisdom. When we're kind to others, we're kind to ourselves. So, your words are the perfect recipe for lasting joy for all. The world is so much a better place if we all adhere to basic acts of kindness. Loved this beautiful poem. ❤

Wonderful thoughts Chris and one of the reasons i disagree with people who have stopped sending Christmas cards and saying they have donated to charity instead.
Don't they realize that some especially older people love to receive that personal contact of written words inside a card,it makes them feel that although they are alone or do not see that person they are still loved and thought about..... so YES kindess especially random kindness to a stranger is a gift in itself.

.................. my pleasure entirely :)
Tis true Chris. We are often wrapped in our own thoughts so much its easy to miss passing faces.
Now think of a world where ignoring people is the Norm. Even if it were, it would still be a less brighter than a world with the odd smile and tentative hello is all some have got to look forward to and brighten theirs day.
Wed never know or find out if you don't look around you for all those waiting faces.
And well said. Random is the best of the kindnesses. Well, actually it's just one of them, but who would say "no thanks" to a dollop or two of random kindness.

Kindness should be free, I think. It would be nice to see even just for a day when everyone gets along.
Thank you for sharing your writing, author Chris Shaw. What a nice message to be reminded of.

little things do mean a lot, smile, nod, hello, open a door, thank you, don't have to be explained nor do they subject another to your personal beliefs, fears, opinions, or angst. - just gestures of friendliness no explanation needed, just a split second ray of hope. and even if your not truly a nice person at least with a stranger they will never know the truth. ha, what a nice read, -carl

Lovely poem, the small things add up, if you spread goodness, goodness will spread, and we will all be better for it. I really enjoyed reading your poem!

Well written, and also part of my daily mantra---a smile and a greeting is such a small thing, really, and costs absolutely nothing, but it lets someone know that they matter.
